ABOUT

Rosalie Smith is an illustrator living in the UK. She is a graduate of Cambridge School of Art’s Children’s Book Illustration MA, where she developed her use of printmaking, collage and digital processes. Drawn to the mystery and unknown found in the everyday, she is inspired by desolate landscapes, abandoned buildings and the secrets of quiet, unassuming strangers. She likes to play with composition and texture to conjure atmosphere and excite a sense of anticipation.

Her unpublished project Underfoot and Over There was Highly Commended in the Macmillan Prize for Illustration 2024.

Her student project, Shipbuilding, was selected for the Illustrator’s Exhibition at the 2022 Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and awarded the Purple Island at Nami Concours 2023. It has been selected for the dPictus Unpublished Picturebook Showcase 5 and will be exhibited at Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2024.
